Location: Bishop's Stortford Department: Finance Reports To: Finance Manager / Accountant Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Assistant to support the finance team with day-to-day accounting tasks. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring timely completion of administrative duties within the finance department. Key Responsibilities: Process purchase invoices and match them to purchase orders Prepare and process sales invoices Assist with bank reconciliations Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Assist with credit control and chasing outstanding payments Process expense claims and staff reimbursements Help prepare month-end financial reports Post journal entries under supervision Handle supplier queries and resolve discrepancies Assist with payroll administration (if required) Provide general administrative support to the finance team Requirements: Previous experience in an accounts or finance role preferred Basic understanding of accounting principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good organisational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication skills AAT qualification (or studying towards) is desirable but not essential Key Skills: Numerical accuracy Problem-solving abilities Confidentiality and professionalism Ability to meet deadlines Strong administrative skills Benefits Training and development opportunities Career progression within finance
